Top property presenter Phil Spencer paid a visit to Daventry estate agents on Wednesday, January 15 in the run up to the release of his new show Love It or List It.

The 60 minute program will feature families facing the tough decision whether to renovate their home or buy a new one and will see Kirstie Allsop trying to convince families transforming their property will make staying put a viable option.

Phil, who will be trying to convince families to sell up, visited local estate agents including Stonhills and Campbells to get their expert advice on the local housing market.

Earlier the property duo, known for their appearances on Channel 4’s Location, Location, Location, were seen filming in Braunston where the first family to participate in the program is located. They even dropped into the Admiral Nelson for a spot of lunch.

Bazz Mistry of Stonhills estate agents on High Street, said: “He [Phil] came in to ask some questions about the local housing market. They came in with a camera crew to do some filming.”

“It was a great atmosphere actually, we all had a cup of tea and there was some good banter.”

Paul Campbell of Campbell’s Estate Agents gave Phil a tour of Braunston. He said: “My job was to try to help Phil find the family another house. Part of the research Phil had to do was have a good tour round the village and the nearby area.”

Mr Campbell added during his career he regularly met families who face the same dilemma of having to decide whether to move or renovate as those featured in the show: “Often this is about families who have lived in the same house for 30 odd years. They have to make the call whether to move or not, these people are special cases.”

Mr Campbell said many families forget it could cost them up to £15,000 to move before they even come to move a stick of furniture, while they could do a complete renovation of their exiting home for around £20,000.

“But when it comes down to it most people say to me they should have done it all 8 years ago.”

It is understood the program could air as early as this summer.

People wishing to take part in the program can email homes@raisetheroofproductions.com or call to 0141 427 5880 and ask for the homes team.
