More snow is expected in the Daventry area later today (Friday) and over night.

Northamptonshire Highways says this afternoon will be very cold with a band of snow moving in from the west (from around 4pm to 5pm).

The snow is expected to persist during the evening and then through the first half of the night, with the snow becoming heavy and persistent for a time. Accumulations of 4-7cm are possible, with the risk of drifting in the strong south-easterly winds.

During the early hours, the snow is expected to turn increasingly to sleet and rain before clearing away to the east. Once the rain has cleared it will be dry with some clear spells, and temperatures will fall below freezing causing icy conditions.

Mainly dry tomorrow morning with lots of sunshine.

Daventry District Council says its bin crews have now almost cleared the backlog caused by the bad weather, however some areas remain inaccessible due to icy road conditions.

Today’s collections – If your black bin collection has been missed since last Friday (January 18) onwards and you have not received a catch-up collection yet this week, DDC says please continue to keep your black bin out as crews will attempt to revisit these areas today (Friday).

Brown bin collections in Daventry district are suspended until further notice. If you are scheduled for a collection today, please leave out your recycling and food waste only.

If your recycling boxes and food waste were not collected yesterday (Thursday), please take them in until your collection next week.
