Conservatives hold Brixworth DDC seat

THE Tory candidate has won the by-election for the Daventry District Council seat in Brixworth.

Stephen James won 64 per cent of the vote against Steve Whiffen of the Green Party.

In all 1.359 ballots were cast – a turn-out of 25.56 per cent.

The result for Northamptonshire’s police and crime commissioner (PCC) election has not yet been declared.

The votes of the Daventry district were verified last night and will be counted at Kettering later today.

Figures released by Daventry District Council show that the overall turn-out for the PCC election was just 16.9 per cent, with 10,288 votes cast.

However, a breakdown shows just 5,417 votes were cast at polling stations on the day with the rest being postal votes.
