Cllr Abigail Campbell will be at Long Buckby train station in the morning and evening of Monday, January 5 to talk to commuters about their experience of public transport.

In particular, Cllr Campbell, who will be standing as a parliamentary candidate for Labour in the forthcoming General Election, said she was keen to hear the thoughts of commuters on current facilities, fare rises, reliability of London Midland and connections with buses.

On Saturday, January 3, Daventry’s Labour Party will also have a street stall in Bowen Square focussing on public transport, and are inviting Daventry residents to come along and have their say.

“We often hear how well connected we are in Daventry – that’s why we’re such a valuable logistics base,” said Cllr Campbell. “But what about public transport for ordinary people, trying to get to work, or college? I think it’s a very different story”.

The cost of a season ticket from Long Buckby to London Euston is set to go up from £5132 to £5260 in 2015.

Though the increase to regulated fares has been capped at 2.5%, the amount added to unregulated fares, such as off-peak leisure tickets, is left to the discretion of rail operators.
