The emergency planning team at Northamptonshire County Council has been shortlisted for a national award for its innovative Don’t Be A Numpty video campaign.
The digital campaign, which features cartoon characters the Numpties and offers advice on staying safe in a range of situations from flooding to heatwaves, has been shortlisted for a CorpComms award in the best use of video category.
The online video campaign was created by the county council’s emergency planning team, its communications and marketing department and Northampton-based design studio RJDM. The nomination comes as the council’s emergency planning team has been awarded the RSPCA Community Animal Welfare Footprint Gold Award in recognition of its work around contingency planning and was highly commended in the animal charity’s awards .
Cllr André González de Savage, county council cabinet member for strategic infrastructure, economic growth and public protection, said: “To be nominated for this award is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved in the campaign.
“We’ve been delighted with the reaction to these light-hearted but highly effective videos, which were created by a talented local animation studio here in Northamptonshire.”
