Bloodhound Supersonic Car Education Team has arrived at Daventry University Technical College for a series of workshops with pupils.

During the first day of workshops on Monday five Daventry UTC year 11 students – Faye O’Farrell, Bradley Taylor, Matthew Coleman, Emerson Icer and Christopher Bradley – won a competition to build the fastest and most efficient K’Nex rocket car.

The winning team is going to have their names put on the tail fin of the Bloodhound car, which will eventually travel at 1,000 mph.

Emerson Icer, one of the wining students, said: “It is fantastic to be able to see a full scale model of the Bloodhound and discover the engineering behind it.

“My dad is an engineer himself who specialises in motorsport industry, so he will be excited when I get home and tell him about my name being put on the car.”

David Edmondson, Daventry UTC’s principal, said: “Our goal is to put Daventry UTC on the educational landscape and to show to the community that Daventry has got great learning opportunities to offer.

“I am also unimaginably happy for having our students’ names put on the Bloodhound supersonic car.”

An open day will be held on Saturday at the UTC from 10am to 1pm, at which the public can see the car.
