Plans for 55 new homes in Woodford Halse look set to be approved next week.

The development, off Farndon Road on the southern edge of the village, has been opposed by neighbours and the parish council.

The parish council points to problems with traffic and pedestrians getting to and from the new homes, and the impact the extra cars will have on Woodford Halse, Byfield, and the various lanes in the area, plus the A361. Parish councillors have also pointed out the new homes are outside the confines of the village.

Byfield Parish Council has also objected on the impact the development would have on its village due to traffic.

A group of 26 neighbours have objected to the new homes on issues including the intrusion into the countryside and the fact the site has limited access to jobs and facilities and poor public transport services.

Planning officers at Davenry District Council point out the plans are an amended version of a proposal refused in February and the changes seek to address the reasons for refusal and other concerns raised.

The application, to be heard on Wednesday June 4, is recommended for approval.
