Work at a building site in Bugbrooke has been brought to a temporary halt following complaints about the amount of mud that construction traffic was leaving on South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) issued the Temporary Stop Notice (TSN) against Persimmon Homes, the developers of the site off Johns Roads and Pilgrims Lane on Friday, March 28 after complaints from near-by residents, members of Bugbrooke Parish Council and SNC ward members.
The TSN was issued on the basis that SNC had made it a condition of the planning permission for the 80 new homes that vehicles leaving the site would be cleaned and that the highway would be kept tidy.
No construction work can now take place for 28 days or until such time as the developers can satisfy the Council that adequate measures are in place to prevent mud getting on to the road.
Cllr Rebecca Breese, SNC’s portfolio holder for planning and the environment said: “Conditions are put in place to ensure a planning permission is acceptable once built as well as to protect the amenity of neighbours and others during the construction period.
“As we do not impose conditions lightly we will enforce them when it is in our community’s interest to do so.”
