An event which has seen the police, fire service and volunteer centre join forces has been hailed as a success by organisers.

Daventry police teamed up with Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service and Daventry Volunteer Centre to allow people the chance to find out more about volunteering,

The organisers of the first event, held on Tuesday at Long Buckby Fire Station, was hailed as a success.

Sgt Paul Valentine, based in Daventry, said: “This was a great opportunity for the police, fire and rescue and Daventry Volunteer Centre to work together to find new volunteers for our respective organisations.

“Across the three organisations there are many different opportunities for people to volunteer and there is something to fit all types of experience and background. Volunteering is an excellent way to give something back to your community, develop new skills, get back into work, meet new people or even pursue a new career.”

Visitors to the event could find out about becoming a special constable or working with the centre’s numerous voluntary schemes. A follow-up will be held on Thursday March 6 between 3pm and 4.30pm at Stephenson Court in Kilsby.
