PROPOSALS for 55 new homes off Farndon Road in Woodford Halse will go before DDC’s planning committee on Wednesday February 19.
The application has been recommended for approval by officers, but is opposed by the parish council, MP Chris Heaton-Harris, and neighbours.
Objections have been received from 71 residents, and 26 households near the site have taken the unusual step of taking on their own planning consultant.
Concerns raised include expansion into countryside, the impact on the character of that part of the village, traffic, the impact on local services, and flooding.
Residents say the proposed site and surrounding area already has problems with flooding. They fear building more homes will increase the chance of flooding. However the developers say the design and measures they are taking will mean water will run off the new estate at the same rate as it does now on open fields.
DDC’s planning committee meets at 6.15pm on February 19 at the offices in Lodge Road.
