THE first steps are set to be taken next week to lead to the construction of a new cadet centre in Daventry.
A number of conifer and leylandii trees will be removed by contractors working for Daventry District Council to create a route for a new access road to the site of the proposed Daventry Cadet Centre off Welton Road,
The proposed cadet centre currently has outline planning permission and the final details of the scheme are due to be submitted to planners early next year, with construction due to begin in late 2012.
Although the new access road is not likely to be built until the spring, the tree-felling needs to take place in the winter to avoid the bird nesting season. The clearance work begins on Monday, December 19 and is expected to take up to four weeks. During that period the closure of the entrance to Daventry cemetery may be required for a few hours.
