Murray Drive, Adlington Way and Daley Road could be some of the street names on the new Monksmoor estate in Daventry.
The names are just a few of the suggestions for some of the roads on the estate which will eventually be made up of 1,000 homes.
Themes and street names were put forward at a meeting of Daventry Town Council’s planning and development committee held on Thursday last week.
British Olympic medal winners was one theme with ideas for names including Pendleton Way or Ennis Close.
Other themed names put forward in a report presented to the council included places on the Western Front with street names based around Ypres, Arras and Amiens proposed. Abbotsbury, Buckfast and Roche were suggested under the umbrella of abbey names while Benedictine, Carthusian and Templar were advocated alongside others with a Monastic connection.
Meadow plants were the final suggestion in the report.
Speaking at the meeting, Cllr Lynne Taylor said: “I quite like the idea of naming the streets after the Olympic medal winning athletes.”
However councillors decided to put forward all of the ideas suggested in the report.
The final decision will be made by Daventry District Council. A spokesman for the authority said the council hoped to make a decision before the end of the year.
