Legendary players from Liverpool FC will be converging in Daventry early next month for a charity match.

Daventry Town FC are playing hosts to the Liverpool Legends XI team at 2pm on August 4 at Communications Park, in Browns Road, Daventry.

The game will be raising money for Tim’s Charity, set up in memory of Tim Hemmings, from Long Buckby.

The Liverpool team has changed a little since they last came to Daventry in 2011.

They have brought in Don Hutchinson, John Wark, Ronnie Whelan and Gary Gillespie to add to favourites Phil Neal, Alan Kennedy, Jason McAteer, Michael Thomas and Paul Walsh.

But the Legends are still waiting on two players, one of which could be the legendary Geordie Peter Beardsley.

Organiser Terry O’Neill from Football For Charity, said: “We are looking for a bumper crowd with good weather expected.

“There will be plenty to drink, eat and buy as we will be having auctions and a company that specialise in Liverpool FC memorabilia.”

Tickets are £10 for adults, £5 for kids, and £40 for VIP places with limited numbers available.

They are available from Daventry Barclays in the High Street, Vital Saloons in Bowen Square, Daventry Town FC and by calling 07445 865420.
