A FORMER Northampton Town player has taken over a village pub.
Steve Phillips, who also played as a forward for Birmingham City, has become the landlord at The Kings Head in Brixworth Road, Spratton.
He has re-opened the restaurant in the building which will be a tea room by day and a restaurant by night.
Mr Phillips said: “I had been running a bar out in Spain with my partner Gail and we wanted to come back to the UK for personal reasons and look after a bar.
“I had a look around at one or two places and I thought this is something I could manage easily.”
The transformation to a tea room he hopes will lead to more people coming in.
He added: “We wanted to create the tea room to give it a bit more of a community feel and do something different.”
The tea room at the pub is open from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
