Four empty and disused pavilion buildings in Daventry will be demolished next week.

Work will start on Tuesday, May 28, on knocking down the former sports changing pavilion buildings on the Headlands estate and in the Fishponds on Southbrook.

The Hollows pavilion in Waterloo and the Burton’s Meadow pavilion near The Inlands will then also be demolished.

Once the demolitions have been completed the areas will be landscaped and the work is expected to take around four weeks.

There is expected to be minor disruption to neighbours in the residential areas during the works due to limited road access.

Portfolio holder for community, culture and leisure at DDC cllr Alan Hills said: “These pavilions have not been used for a long time and unfortunately have been targeted by vandals in recent years.

“Last year we offered people the chance to lease the pavilions and bring them back to life with some sort of recreational or community use, but we had no confirmed interest so the decision was made to knock them down as they have started to become unsafe.

“Disruption to the surrounding areas will be kept to a minimum while the work takes place.”

Residents in the affected areas will receive letters with more information but anyone with queries regarding the demolitions can contact Jez Watts at DDC on 01327 871100.
